Hi Boston City Singers family!
We’re on the end stretch of our tour and tomorrow we are headed to our next stop, Home!
Today, we had breakfast and then we headed to the center of Split for some free time around Diocletian’s Palace to do some shopping. Then we headed on the bus and Ante, our bus driver, drove us to a church where we had a recording session and recorded a few of our songs: Indodana, Sicut Cervus, Jamaican Folk Songs, and a World Rhythm Ensemble performance. We sang for and with some onlookers who were watching us perform and then had lunch. The same onlookers then generously brought us beverages and wafer cookies!
Their random act of kindness was very much appreciated and touching to all of us.
We then headed to Klis where we visited an ancient fortress. We hiked in and around the fortress and learned of the magnificent history over the centuries while seeing the magnificent views from the top. This fortress is especially interesting because it was a prominent setting the famous Game of Thrones series.
We then headed back to the dorms, had some free time, and then walked to dinner at the Gaspic Restaurant. It was a delicious array of of meats and fries and some grilled vegetables. After dinner, we walked back to the dorms and had a tour closing reflection activity where we wrote down or circled some of are favorite parts of each day on tour and then shared them aloud. The choir boys sang us an interesting but beautiful rendition of “Good Night” and we had an emotional pow wow that ended with crying and our last singing of Indodana.
To the seniors, thank you for being wonderful additions to this choir. We hope that this tour was a learning experience for you, and it was something that you can remember in 10 years and smile about. You will be sincerely missed but we know that you’re going off to do amazing things with your lives. We love you all, and hope college treats you well.
Best wishes to the seniors! To our families and friends, we’ll see you soon in Boston!
